Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit
The teaching, research, and service efforts of the EXSS Department are supported by an outstanding faculty and staff, which currently includes: 37 full-time faculty, 9 part-time (fixed term) faculty, 20 joint appointment / adjunct faculty, 10 emeritus faculty, 36 full-time EXSS staff members, and 18 full-time Campus Recreation staff members.
Position Summary
- Teach students from diverse life experiences and learning styles in three (3) undergraduate classes per semester. Preference given to candidates who are passionate about sport economics/finance and have the versatility to teach classes in at least two (2) additional content areas (e.g., general sport administration, professional development, sport law, facility and event management).
- Help foster a climate for student success consistent with the mission of the Department and University; supervise independent study, independent research, Honors thesis, and student organization(s) based on interest and availability.
- Participate in Departmental and University service and governance functions.
- Perform other responsibilities and duties as assigned by the Chair of the Department.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
- An earned master’s degree (MS, MBA, etc.) with emphasis in Sport Administration/Management is required. An earned doctorate (PhD, EdD, JD, etc.) is preferred. All doctoral degree requirements must be completed by the position start date.
- Demonstrated record of teaching at the collegiate level is required
- Demonstrated record of, or potential commitment to, student professional development and learning success (e.g., student mentorship, student-focused professional development) is required.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
- Experience teaching undergraduate sport economics/finance is preferred.
- Experience working and/or relationships within the sport industry is preferred.
